While the intranet itself was in place when I joined the Cree School Board in 2017, it developed significantly over my tenure there. We explored first how members of our diverse 1000-member staff were using – or not using – the tool, and investigated ways that would improve their experience and boost engagement.
File organization and access were improved, the user interface was updated, and a ticket system for both IT and Communications requests was implemented. We provided training, and set a specific intention that managers encourage the access of the improved E-You.
Further, we implemented a news blog on the E-You site with postings that were specific to internal communications and easy links to access relevant support files. This blog and an internal newsletter were strategically used to enhance engagement with the tool on a regular basis.
